Field types

Admin Options Pages has 21 field types. Eighteen of them store a value in a WordPress option; the three layout types only add something to the page.

Click the + button on a page in the editor to choose a type. Every type has its own page, with what it looks like in the editor and on the options page, its settings and the value it stores.

Settings every field shares

Every field with a value has these settings. The page of a type only lists the settings that are special to it.

Setting What it does
Autoload Loads the option together with all other autoloaded options on every request. Leave it on for values you use on most pages.
Use in shortcode and blocks Allows the value to be shown on the website with the shortcode or a block. The editor then shows the Shortcode of the field, with a copy button. Not for the password field: its value is never shown.
Field label The label next to the field on the options page.
Field name The name of the option the value is stored in. This is what you use in get_option(). Lowercase letters, numbers and underscores.
Additional CSS Class(es) Extra CSS classes for the row of the field.

Media

Layout

These types store nothing. They give a page structure.

Type Adds
Title A heading that starts a new section
Description A paragraph of text
Horizontal rule A line between two groups of fields
